In February – April 2018 we recorded and produced the music video for the song Big and mean machine. It’s the first track on our fifth album Out of the blues from 2015. The track and album Out of the Blues can be found on Spotify, iTunes and CD-baby. ©Karin Rudefelt & Doctor Blues, 2018 Filming, art direction and editing of the film: Karin Rudefelt. Also a special shoutout to friend of the band Andreas for support in the filming. Photos below: Peter Borgström
On July 14, we’ll be stopping by Olga and Mikkel, who runs Kvarnen (The Mill) in Kornhult for a good combo of passionate blues and food. Kornhult is located on the outskirts of Laholms municipality, close to both the border of Scania and Smaland. The Mill has a restaurant, café, gallery and grows their own vegetables. It is surrounded by beautiful forests, lakes and farmland. So join us the 14th of July for a countryside outing with plenty of entertainment and great food. The event Music and food costs SEK 295. See you there!
We are right back at the great studio of Linné University with our favorite producer and wing man Patrik Alm faithfully by our side.
On this fifth Karin Rudefelt & Doctor Blues album we have been graced with exceptional guest appearances that will lift the sound to a new level. READ MORE…
Brian Harman from Britain’s leading blues magazine Blues Matters reviews the album Walk the Walk: “A splendid export from Sweden that I for one think we should hear more of”.
There are blues bands, and then there’s Karin Rudefelt & Doctor Blues. This is a band that does not follow the rules and who keep crossing the borders. The band plays the blues but will happily blend in rock and jazz and also have a woman as one of the singers – and women aren’t supposed to sing the blues, right? But right it is. The music has made the band an innovator of blues music and Karin Rudefelt should indeed sing the blues. The band’s second singer is Lennart Olofsson. He also writes all the music and co-founded the band 30 years ago. Two guest artists are joining in. Erja Lyytinen is Finland’s blues queen and Brian Kramer is a renowned Bluesman from New York. Karin Rudefelt & Doctor Blues gives us a blues that grooves and that makes the listener happy. It’s heavy blues, but still far from the blues melancholic origin. It’s modern blues.
